Program Overview
Our Understanding IPL & Heat Based Therapies course is an ideal and basic refresher for those that are already qualified in IPL or a good introduction for those new to IPL. Learn about the science behind IPL, how it works in the skin and what it can target, how it compares to other light-based therapies and how to make it work effectively for you in clinic.
This course is delivered by a qualified IPL Practitioner who holds a Laser Safety Officer Certification. On completion of this course, you will receive a 30min “one on one” Q&A session with Ainslie or one of other IPL technicians to ensure you are feeling confident with the information you’ve learnt.
It is recommended to follow on with our IPL Practical Training for further knowledge on treating specific skin conditions and to learn the treatment methods.

- Discover IPL and the principle of photothermolysis with our IPL expert Ainslie.
- Understand wavelengths and how they target the skin.
- Get to know your parameters and how to use them to maximise results.
- Discover chromophores and how they are targeted.
- Ainslie will take you through a thorough consultation process and importance of patch testing.
- Learn about Fitzpatrick skin typing with Ainslie’s guidance on how to determine someone’s skin type.
- Discuss treatment intervals, courses, end point and guidelines.
- Gain confidence with understanding contraindications & considerations.
- Understand treatment aftercare and how important it can be.
- Learn the best practice tips from Ainslie when performing in clinic treatments.

Kerri is an ABIA award winning therapist, with over 10 years experience in skin and beauty. Her attention to detail and customer care is what has contributed greatly to her successes, whilst working in some of Perth’s top spas. As the business development manager and educator for one of Australia’s leading skin care companies, Kerri has trained therapists of all levels in skin correction, consultation, customer service, retail and more. Kerri is a passionate educator who loves advancing and encouraging therapists to reach their goals.
